MY RATING: 5/5 stars

GOODREADS SYNOPSIS: Following the grief and horror of her discovery of Jack the Ripper’s true identity, Audrey Rose Wadsworth has no choice but to flee London and its memories. Together with the arrogant yet charming Thomas Cresswell, she journeys to the dark heart of Romania, home to one of Europe’s best schools of forensic medicine…and to another notorious killer, Vlad the Impaler, whose thirst for blood became legend.

But her life’s dream is soon tainted by blood-soaked discoveries in the halls of the school’s forbidding castle, and Audrey Rose is compelled to investigate the strangely familiar murders. What she finds brings all her terrifying fears to life once again.

As soon as I found out that the sequel to Stalking Jack the Ripper was about the infamous Vlad the Impaler, I knew in that moment I was about to step through a gate in history. One that I would not like to return from any time soon.

I personally, have done research on Vlad the Impaler and his position as Prince of Wallachia. With this in mind, I did not expect any of the events that happened in this novel. Nothing could have prepared me for what is in this wonder of a book. My knowledge of Vlad III’s heritage and family connection, landed me into the red herring trap – oh how I loved it.

The new gothic setting of Romania, holds mystery I can not fathom. The place felt truly alive with the direst of motives. The imagery used allowed me to look into the page, as if it were a magic mirror and see all of what the Institutului Național de Criminalistică și Medicină Legală had to tell.

Audrey Rose and Thomas’ new adventure was far more rich and eerie than London’s own serial killer could ever provide. The secretive whispering of the thrilling Romania, speaks of Vlad the Impaler rising from the grave in a mystical form. Wadsworth’s struggles and trauma from London brings her closer to Cresswell once again to once again, solve this impossible tale.

The immense character building was truly incredible, they’ve evolved into some new and old. They’re less naïve, knowing the dangers of investigating a serial killer and the lasting effects it can have. I immediately fell in love with the new characters and the diversity that they incorporated.

We only saw glimpse of what Kerri could do in SJTR, this book was so much more enticing and awe-inspiring.

There are so many beautiful quotes and scenes in this book, that it is truly difficult to count! I am very much looking forward to picking up a finished copy on September 19th!

I recommend reading Stalking Jack the Ripper so much. If you like history, mystery with a dash of cunning romance, then this book is for you.

A spine chilling, yet thrilling sequel to Stalking Jack the Ripper. If you loved the debut novel, then you will adore Hunting Prince Dracula. Kerri’s writing will take you on a journey through the past you never thought you needed. Be prepared to follow our beloved Cresswell and Wadsworth through the dark and bloody Romanian setting. I am utterly enthralled with the dark, bloody setting of Bran Castle and all it holds. Maniscalco welcomes a chilling, blood-curdling world like no other. This hair-raising sequel puts you in the place of the strong willed and gifted mind of Audrey Rose Wadsworth with the cunning and analytical gentleman of Thomas Cresswell. Together, unwinding the mystery of Vlad the Impaler in the Institutului Național de Criminalistică și Medicină Legală.

I would once again like to thank the publisher for this amazing arc!

Until next time,
